Local Father & Daughter Racing Team

Written By: Robin Green

The father & daughter racing team will be calling Travelers Rest Speedway home once again in 2010. Shane and Morgan Gentry can often be found in the pit area at TR Speedway in Upstate South Carolina every Saturday night.

Shane has been in the racing world for 22 years on asphalt and dirt tracks around The Carolina’s. He has stuck to the dirt tracks lately running in the Renegade and Pure Stock classes on a weekly basis. The 2010 racing season will be bringing him back to the same track and divisions as years past.

Morgan doesn’t have the years on the track that her father has, but she is well on her way. This young lady of 16 has been running in the Young Guns class over the last several years and will continue in the same for 2010 until the time comes for her to move on up to Stock 4 or any other class of her choosing.

This racing family has managed to combine sport, hobby and family time all together. Where one goes to race, they all go. They say “A family that prays together, stays together.” As true as that is, it is also a fact that “A family that plays together, stays together.”

We look for more wins from both the Gentry drivers this coming season and wish them good luck in their continued growth within this sport and in life itself.
