(2013 General Rules)
This General Rule Section applies to each and every driver, mechanic, and pit personnel. You are expected to know the rules. Ignorance of the rules will not be accepted as an excuse.
1. Track official’s decision will be final. We cannot make the rules fit everyone’s needs and desires. So if you run, please be willing to go by the rules outlined in this book.
2. The first three (3) cars in all divisions must cross scales after the race; also the first three cars are subject to P&G.
3. Prize money will not be held for anyone it must be picked up the night it’s earned, by driver only, No exceptions.
4. Must be 16 years of age or older to compete, you may be required to submit a copy of your birth certificate. If you are under 16 years of age your parent must sign a Parental Consent, Release and Waiver of Liability, Assumption of Risk, and Indemnity Agreement form before you can compete.
5. Anyone caught drinking; using marijuana or controlled substances will be suspended. First offense the next race, second offense the next 2 races, third offense suspended for one season. All drivers are subject to a breath test. Any driver or pit crew caught drinking alcoholic beverages at any race meet will automatically forfeit any prize money said car has won and points for that race meet.
6. Anyone caught fighting in the pit area will be suspended from the pit area, First offense the next race, second offense the next 2 races, third offense suspended for one season. Any driver or pit crew member that enters another driver’s pit area will be deemed the aggressor.
7. Away from either driver’s pit area both drivers and pit crew members will be considered aggressors.
8. The aggressor or aggressors will receive the suspension.
9. Drivers should be aware that they will be held responsible for all members of their race team.
10. In the event of any Felony conviction of a driver or car-owner, the disciplinary action will be indefinite suspension from Lavonia Speedway beginning with the date of the conviction, or the date of the completion of any incarceration subsequent to said conviction, whichever date shall last occur. In the event the conviction is Drug related, that person may be subject to a Drug Test before returning to competition.
11. However, nothing shall prohibit the track Official’s from administering any penalty, including immediate removal from the premises or permanent suspension of track privileges to driver, owner or pit crew member whose conduct, in the complete discretion of the track Official’s represents a threat to the orderliness of track operations or the safety of others.
12. Any driver who enters grandstand area and / or proceeds to enter without an invitation and conducts him or herself in an unsportsman like manner may be suspended.
13. An adult must accompany children under age 14 in the pit area at all times. And all children must stay clear of the scale area at all times. Drivers, Pit Crew Member’s and Spectators in the pit area, it is your responsibility to know were your children are at all times. Failure to do so could result in loss of pit privileges.
14. Any unnecessary roughness on racetrack, the race will stop and the person or persons will be put into the pits.
15. To be the official leader of the race you must have completed the last complete green lap.
16. In the event of a caution, any car or cars that come to a stop due to being involved in the accident, the caution flag was displayed for will line up in the rear for the restart.
17. Any car for which the yellow flag is displayed for must restart in the rear.
18. Any car or cars caught illegal receives no money.
19. Refusing to obey officials could result in laps taken away or suspended.
20. A driver going to the pits under yellow or red must go to the rear of the field.
21. Any driver that gets out of his or her car on the track under a caution or red flag will be put in the pits. Do not get out of your car unless you are prepared to go to the pits. The only time this rule will be excused is for safety reasons, fire, etc.
22. Driving in the pit area, it is the driver’s responsibility to drive slow and under control at all times in pit area. Any driver that drives reckless or out of control at the discretion of Official’s could lose all pit privileges.
23. No work can be done on racecars on track. All work on racecars must be done in pit area.
24. If a car sustains any damage on the racetrack that requires repairs, the car must go to the pits for the necessary repairs. Track officials or wrecker officials will pull fenders (only).
25. Any car that brings out the yellow flag 2 times in a single car caution must go to the pits.
26. Drivers cannot switch from one division to another without authorized permission. Drivers are allowed to compete in more than one local division per race meet providing admission has been paid for each event , compete being: given the first green flag for a start, even if the start becomes void. (Note: This rule will be strictly enforced) Official discretion by Track Promoter will be exercised.
27. A racecar can only compete in one local division per race night.
28. Drivers will be paid according to laps completed. The payoff on a red and checkered flag will be the same as a restart.
29. All cars are subject to inspection by track officials at any time. Any car that loses fuel cell is subject to a $100.00 fine.
30. Any driver caught competing or trying to compete in more than one local division per race event will forfeit any and all prize money and points for said event.
31. Sign-in, it is the responsibility of the driver to sign-in under the correct division and use his or her correct name. Driver’s name competing must match the sign-in sheet. In the event of a driver change officials must be notified so sign-in sheet can be changed prior to the start of any competition of the drivers division. NO driver changes will be allowed in any division once competition for that division has started. Competition being Time trials and/or Heat races and/or Last Chance races and/or Feature race.
32. Any car that pulls into the pit and re-enters the track under green and stops will be automatically put back into the pits. This applies on starts and or restarts.
33. Track reserves the right to add weight to any car in order to offset any minor rule violations. Official’s discretion will be utilized.
34. Top 3 Cars will be checked at the scales.
35. Lavonia Speedway reserves the right to place drivers in the division most suited for them according to their performance level. This may require a driver to move up to the next division. Track officials will make this decision based on the number of wins, championship wins, and /or the performance level of a driver. Track also reserves the right to handicap.
36. In the event a driver is suspended – that suspension will start at the next scheduled local event.
37. In the event of a low car count in a division, Lavonia Speedway reserves the right to amend, reschedule, postpone or delete a division with a low car count.
38. Anyone entering Lavonia Speedway must purchase a ticket if you do not purchase a ticket you may be banned indefinitely from all events at the Lavonia Speedway.
CHANGES / SUBSTITUTIONS
1. At the discretion of the Race Officials. Drivers may change cars at any time between qualifying and the start of the Main Feature. However, any change will result in the driver starting in the rear of his or her Heat race, Last Chance race and/or Feature race.
2. Drivers must notify the Race Officials of any desired change, so that Prize Money may be awarded correctly.
3. NOTE: For all races, once the field has been given the first green flag for a start, NO changes of car will be permitted, even if the start becomes void.
4. NO driver or class changes will be allowed in any division once competition has started. Competition being Time trials and/or Heat races and/or Last Chance races and/or Feature race.
TRACTION CONTROL DEVICES
1. All Traction Control Devices are strictly prohibited during any form of a Lavonia Speedway event, race or practice / test session.
2. Any traction control device utilizing wheel sensors or any means of measuring ground speed to control wheel spin are strictly prohibited.
3. Any remote controlled device inside or outside the cockpit of any competitor’s racecar are strictly prohibited.
4. A competitor found with any of the above mentioned will lose the complete device permanently and will be disqualified and may be suspended.
5. There is a $400.00 claim rule on all ignition boxes.
STARTS
1. We will continue to use the green light system. This system will be used for all starts for Heats, Last Chance and/or Features.
2. The green light at the end of the front straightaway is under the control of the flagman and will be used on all starts.
3. After the ” one lap to go ” signal has been given, the field must maintain an orderly, controlled pace around to turn 4, with the front row running side by side. Provided that the line up is good, the race will be started at some point between exiting turn 4 and the flag stand, The race will not start until the green light is switched on.
4. Anticipating the start, or firing before the start will be considered a penalty and the offending driver or drivers will be put back one row.
5. In the event of a caution, before the first lap is complete, due to a single or multi car accident, the driver or drivers responsible for caution must go to rear of field. The field will be realined for a complete restart. In the event you go in the pits you must go to the rear for the restart.
6. All classes in the event of a caution, before the first lap is completed and you go to the pits and don’t make it back out to take the “one to go “signal you can not move up to the next class and race.
GREEN FLAG:
A. Start the race.
YELLOW FLAG:
A. Everyone slow down to a safe speed and follow the car you were behind the last green lap. You will be lined back up on the track where you were running, not the position that you are running.
RED FLAG:
A. This flag means danger, stop as quickly as possible. Do not pass the flagman when this flag is displayed. The cars will be again lined up as they were running on the last green lap.
BLACK FLAG:
A. This flag means pull into the pits.
LAP FLAG:
A. Blue with a yellow stripe. Displayed to cars being lapped, must allow lead cars to pass.
WHITE FLAG:
A. One lap to go.
CHECKERED FLAG:
A. Finish the race is over.

Modified Street Rules
Frame:
A. Stock for make and model.
Roll Cage:
A. All cars must have boxed cage with 1 1/2″ o.d. x .095″ minimum tubing’s.
B. Must have 3 bars in left door and two bars in right door.
C. Loop around engine compartment permitted.
D. Two bars may run top main roll cage loop to rear frame rails.
Wheelbase:
A. Stock for make and model ½ inch tolerance SIDE TO SIDE.
Suspension:
A. Must be stock for make and model.
B. Jack Bolts permitted.
C. Racing shocks permitted.
D. Racing springs permitted.
E. Aftermarket Top A Frames permitted; must be mounted on stock frame mount only.
Steering:
A. Stock for make and model.
Brakes:
A. 3-Wheel brakes system permitted.Disc brakes on rear permitted.
B. Dual type permitted- In car adjusting permitted.
Wheels & Tires:
A. Steel wheels only – 8″ or 10” permitted.
B. Track Tire is HOOSIER D-30. Must punch 45 after race.No grooving or cutting.
C. Oversize studs and lugs are permitted.
D. 1/2″ on A&B.
E. Bead locks permitted.
Ignition:
A. Factory HEI or point only.
B. Distributer may be locked.
Rear End:
A. Stock for make and model.
B. May be locked.
C. 9 inch Ford permitted
D. 9 inch Ford Grand National Hubs permitted.
Body:
A. Factory Stock Appearing/ aftermarket steel bodies permitted. Any aluminum body parts or bodies are permitted.
B. All glass and flammable material items must be removed.
C. Headlights, tail lights, and wheel covers must be removed.
D. Body may be hulled.
E. Doors must be strapped, welded or bolted.
F. Area between driver and gas tank must be totally covered with sheet metal.
G. May run after market nose;Stock type/ street stock nose.
H. 6 inch max material on spoiler; 18 inch side spoiler/ 8” high maximum. Side spoiler starting at 2 inches and ending at 8 inches maximum.
I. Body must be closed in rear.
J. Must have stock firewall and stock floor pan to rear of driver’s seat on left hand side of car. Must also have stock transmission and drive shaft tunnel.
K. No wedge type bodies.
L. Stock appearing bumper covers; No late model type noses.
Bumpers:
A. Stock for make and model.
B. Must be securely attached.
C. Must have lifting hook for wrecker.
D. Must not have exposed sharp edges.
E. Must be track approved.
Engine:
A. Must be stock for make and model.
B. Must be in original location 1 inch tolerance.
C. .060″ overbore permitted.

E. Chev. GM 362 cubes inch maximum.
F. CAM GM up to 488 lift maximum at valve hyd. or solid-NO Roller
G. Stock rods only. Stock stroke for make and model. Scat or Eagle stock replacement rod permitted.
H. Flat top 4 valve relief pistons. No pistons under 500 grams allowed. No pin lighter than 130 grams.
I. Stock crankshaft only. Scat or Eagle crankshaft permitted. Must be cast steel only.
J. Aluminum water pump and pulleys permitted.
K. Ford and Dodge stroke may vary.
L. Ford may run two eyebrow pistons with no piston under 500 grams and no pin under 130 grams.
Heads:
A. Maximum valve size intake 1.940, Exhaust 1.500.
B. No angle cut heads.
C. Stock valve job only.
D. No porting or polishing.
E. Heads 300 H.P. permitted. Roller rocker arms permitted.
F. Screw in studs & plates permitted.
G. GM Head numbers: 416, 882, 993, 041, 487, 336, and VORTEC only.
H. No ten degree Ford heads permitted. Must be factory type heads. World products heads permitted #WRL-053030-1 180cc intake runner and 58cc combustion chambers.
Intake Manifold:
A. After market intake permitted.
B. One 4-barrell type only.
C. High performance intakes permitted.
D. Aluminum quadra-jet intakes permitted.
Carburetor:
A. Stock for make and model.
B. Choke flap may be removed.
C. Stock 3310 Holley Single Pump only.
D. Meter block permitted in back.
E. No porting or polishing
F. No screw permitted in secondary vacuum
G. Spacers or adaptors are not permitted.
Flywheel & Clutch:
A. Steel flywheel only.
B. Z-28 flywheel permitted.
C. Pressure plate and clutch disc must be stock appearing for make and model.
D. Flywheel must weigh a minimum of 14 lbs.
E. Ford may run aluminum flywheel but must not be lighter than 14 pounds.
Fuel:
A. Gas only.
B. No additives.
C. Fuel must check -5 or +5 with gas checker compared to track fuel.
D. Electric fuel pumps are not permitted.
E. Nitrous oxide systems not permitted.
F. No supercharges or turbochargers permitted.
Radiator:
A. Any type radiator.
Starter:
A. All cars must start under its own power.
Transmission:
A. Stock 3, 4, or 5 speed are permitted.
B. NO automatic transmissions are permitted.
C. Must have all gears in transmission.
Safety Requirements:
A. Approved helmets and firesuits.
B. Properly installed 3″ quick release lap belt with a 2″ shoulder harness in good condition.
C. Properly mounted fuel tank in trunk.
D. Securely mounted fuel tank in trunk.
E. Must have securely mounted bucket type or racing seat.
Numbers:
A. Must be at least 18″ high on both sides of the car.
B. Must be visible and legible to scoring tower.
Weight:
A. Weight rule 3100 lbs anytime.
Notes:
A. Mirrors are not permitted.
B. All Cars must start event with all body parts in place.
Protest Fees:
A. Protest any three (3) items except bottom end- $300

H. Crank and heads must be stock, no polishing. 3 angle valve job permitted (1 cut above the seat, 1 cut on the seat and 1 cut below the seat (no more than .060).
I. Flat top piston, on Ford & Chevy.
Heads:
A. Must be stock for make and model.
B. Stock- 1 piece stock replacement valve permitted (can be single lock groove). Double valve springs permitted.
C. Stock, one piece stock replacement valve permitted. Double valve springs permitted.
D. Any Hyd. (.455 lift) cam permitted.

F. Stock cast iron manifold or header permitted.
G. Shims under lifter permitted.
Intake Manifold:

B. Bottom end- $300
C. Acceptance fee- $100 / Track Retains $100
D. Bumper to bumper protest (engine, transmission & Suspension)- $1000.00 Acceptance fee- $200.00
E. Protest must be filed within (10 minutes) after event.
Visual Protest:
A. Must be made before event starts.
B. Visual fee $50 per item.
C. Track retains 100% of visual protest.

Front Wheel Drive Rule
(F.W.D. Basic Rules:)
A. Any Four Cylinder Front Wheel Drive
B. High Performance or High Out Put Engines NOT Allowed.
C. 4 wheel drives/all wheel drives NOT Allowed.
D. All same size wheels.
E. DOT tires only…..(No mud grip or snow tires permitted)
F. May hull doors for bars.
G. Must have sound roll bar overhead.
H. Tube bumpers are ok but must have caps.
I. Optional deck sheet metal.
J. Stock cars only No modifications Allowed
Numbers:
A. Must be at least (18″) high on both sides of the car.
B. Must be at least (24″) high on roof of car.
C. Must be visible and legible to scoring tower.
Notes:
A. Mirrors are not permitted.
B. All Cars must start event with all body parts in place.
Protest:
A. $1000.00 Claim and Swap cars ( you keep Seat, Belt, Ect.)
Visual Protest:
A. Must be made before event starts.
B. Visual fee $20.
C. Track retains 100% of visual protest fees.
