We just saw the notice that Westminster Speedway is closing effective immediately. It’s a sad day when yet another local dirt track throws in the towel but Johnny, Marie & Staff tried their very best to keep things going for the drivers and fans over the last year and a half. This economy has wreaked havoc at every track and race shop all over the country. We wish them all the best in what ever they choose to do in the future.
We hope that everyone can continue to support their local dirt track in an effort to keep what we have left in SC, NC & Georgia going. We have to come together as a racing community to make this happen because so often the tracks that close down may be closed for good unless we all help support them now while they are here for us all to enjoy.
VIA Westminster Speedway FB Page – Westminster Speedway will no longer be the place to be on Friday nights. Myself, Marie, our friends and family that have been there for almost 2 years want to thank each and everyone of the fans and drivers that have been there with us. It was because of you that we showed up every week and tried to give you the best show, get you home at a decent hour and give the drivers the best prepared track to race on. For what ever reasons we just cant seem to get enough surport to keep the track open. We made alot of new friends and wish all of you only the best.
Update – The track was able to stay open and Raines signed a new contract for 2013.
