Scott Galloway – Catching a ride in 2010
Written By: Robin Green
Scott Galloway is a quiet, shy man with an outstanding attitude on and off the track. He has raced in the Bomber, T & L, Limited Sportsman and most recently Stock 8 Classes around local tracks in Upstate South Carolina. Since 1988 he has been a part of the racing community in one division or another and this season he is catching a ride.
This 2010 racing season is a little different for Mr. Galloway. His father has been a strong supporter as well as financial backer for Scott in the Limited division but due to the retirement of Galloway Senior, money has been tight. Since running on a regular basis was not going to be possible, when he was asked by Harold Phillips to run a Stock 8 car, he jumped at the chance. “It’s not often that someone gives you the opportunity to continue on with your dream in their car. When Harold asked if I would drive for him, I said yes real quick,” said Scott Galloway.
Scott has had well over 125 wins and 4 Track Championships (2 at Riverside Speedway and 2 at Windy Hill now TR Speedway) over the years. He has raced at several local Upstate tracks but calls Travelers Rest Speedway his home on a weekly basis.
He thrives in this sport with some of the best drivers in the South to compete against. Keeping up is not a problem, nor is making friends. Scott has been described as one of the most honest, fair, well mannered, nice people anyone will ever meet. In just the few times I have had the privilege to sit and talk with him, I can verify that as being true.
Mr. Galloway is a molding technician by trade, father and husband 24/7 and a race car driver as often as he gets the chance. He is the first in his family to strap into a race car on a Friday or Saturday night but I have a feeling he want be the last. His 11 year old son is now showing a great deal of interest in this world of racing.
It is not often that I get to meet a person so humble, loyal and an all around great guy but Scott Galloway is every bit of that and much more. I personally would like to Thank him for taking the time to speak with me and for the short on camera interview that he allowed me to record. Go out and get that win Scott!
Scott Galloway would like to take this space to especially Thank his Family, Friends, Crew, Fans and Sponsors Harold Phillips and Hayes Automotive for their continued support.
