Roger Gilliam – 11 plus years and still going strong

Written By: Robin Green

With 11 plus years of experience, Roger Gilliam has won a multitude of races. He has participated in the Renegade, Stock 8 and Limited classes at Travelers Rest Speedway as well as other local tracks like Thunder Valley, Cherokee and Harris Speedway’s. At the age of 44, Mr. Gilliam has just this season brought out a brand new Limited Sportsman car to run along with his Stock 8 on a weekly basis displaying the same familiar number 28 attached to it.

Roger will continue to switch things up a bit on the track and looks forward to every race as if it was his first. Each night he rolls on to the track, he gives the fans 100%. You can tell by the screams from the crowd that he is one of many fan favorites within any class he chooses to run. Mr. Gilliam is not the only member of his family involved within the local racing community. His daughter Christina Guice participated for some time and now his son-in-law Kyle Guice has joined in the fun on the track and Tylor Guice as well.

It has been my pleasure to meet and speak with an outstanding, funny, outgoing, heck of driver and all around nice guy like Mr. Roger Gilliam. It is no wonder why his fans, family and friends consider him their #1 pick for the 2010 season. Though he has had hard crashes, like back a few years ago, he has dusted himself off and kept on moving to the front which is where he can be found on any given night of racing.

Mr. Gilliam would like to especially Thank his family, friends, fans and his #1 Fan Brody Lindsey for their continued support along with his Crew Jerry, Darrell, Ben, Earl, Justin, Jerry and Sponsors who help often to see to it that he is out on that track each week.
