Spring & Turbo Blue are in the air all around the Upstate of South Carolina. This past Sunday practice at local Travelers Rest Speedway brought out cars, drivers and fans in record numbers. It looked more like a race was taking place rather than just a simple practice. If this is any indication as to what will be seen on a weekly basis at TR Speedway, then perhaps this season will be as predicted “The best year yet for dirt track racing”.
The first race is set to kick off the 2010 season on March 20th with the gates opening at 2pm. Wouldn’t you know that this happens to be the same day as the official start of spring and the weather should be perfect with predicted highs in the 70′s. The meet and greet should begin around 3:30 followed by the drivers meeting at 5 and so on. Bring your sharpies, pictures, scrap books, etc for the drivers to sign because they should show up once again in record numbers for the opening night festivities.
Young Guns, Stock 4, Super Stock 4, Renegade, Stock 8, Limited Sportsman, Fastrak Late Models, Pure Stock and Front Wheel Drive are said to be the classes running for this HUGE opening event.
Admission will be $10 for the Grandstands, $20 for the Pits and Children under 10 get in FREE with paying adult.
Also don’t forget to pick up your copy of the Mini Book “TR Speedway”. I have ordered additional copies, so once the limited amount of FREE copies are gone, you can purchase them for $4 each. These will also come in handy to get the drivers autographs during the meet and greet. The FREE one’s will not last long, so get them quick.
