Racing Team “Strength In Numbers” Sponsorship Strategy

Racing teams have been growing rapidly over the last several years. It’s not just two or three cars per team anymore, it’s 5,6,7 plus multiple drivers in several divisions who each bring something unique to the track.

The unstable economy has made it tough over the last couple of years in the sport of dirt track racing but some are thinking outside the box.

Using the good old truth of “Strength in numbers” has brought about opportunities on a whole new level. Not only do these teams help their drivers on and off the track but they can also aid in additional sponsorship. Companies are looking to advertise in a more cost effective way, so getting that extra bang for their buck adds to the appeal of utilizing the entire racing team.

These are just a few things your team can do to gain sponsorship:
1) Trade company logo’s for parts and services instead of just money. (Say it is a tire company, let them supply tires all year in return for advertising their company on your cars. Advertising brings in sales and most companies know that visibility adds to their cash flow.)
2)  Show rates per car and discounts for entire team. (The more options you have for them to choose from the better.)
3)  Supply companies with written proposals, flyers, newsletters, etc.
4)  Set up a website and add information, pictures and video’s on cars and drivers within your racing team. (This makes it easier for local and national companies to research a team that they may be looking to sponsor not to mention adds to the online advertisement aspect of the team and their sponsors.)

Visibility of the entire team is important. The more wins and larger fan base a team has will make for a smoother ride in 2010.
