A lot of us have been asking “What will become of TR Speedway in 2010 under new management?”

A few months ago I received word that a new promoter would be taking over our home track. Not everyone likes change and Jody Palmer was an easy man for most to get along with, so will this new man Andy Hyde make things better or worse? Lot’s of questions as well as gossip flowed freely among us all in anticipation of what would change. Will there be classes cut or changed, how would the rules be effected, will admission price be changed, will this effect the car count, will the track be better or worse, is the new management going to show favoritism are just a few of the questions most of us have had.

Well I can now rest assured that next season will bring about some changes and events that will blow your mind. Friday night, I received a call from Mr. Andy Hyde who was interested in learning more about my book project and the documentary for next year. I had sent him a message earlier that day to ask for permission to sell the book (once finished) at the NEW TR SPEEDWAY and also to find out how he would feel about a possible live broadcast to be viewed online a time or two next year during the Young Guns race, provided we can get the equipment together to do so. Not only did he agree, but has also helped me to figure out a way to hopefully keep the book free to the public. (More will be posted on that in the next few months.)

I spoke with Mr. Hyde in length about a multitude of things to come for the track. Now I want post divisions, rules or anything of that nature that were mentioned, because that has yet to be fully decided, but I can tell you that next year will be spectacular.

Monday morning the work will begin. The same guys (sorry I forgot their names already) that ripped up Westminster and rebuilt one of the best racing surfaces in the area, will begin the task of doing the same for TR. The stands will also get a face lift with all old boards replaced. The bathrooms in the pits will soon get the help that they so desperately need as will the lighting, sound system in the pits, and much more. It is a new day ladies and gentleman and I believe this man has his ducks in row, the traffic stopped on both sides of the highway, and they are on the move to a bright and new future.

Car count I have no doubt will be high from day one. Extra events will be show stopping. Fans and drivers alike will be extremely pleased with some motions he is putting in place to start the season off on the right foot. No longer will you see decisions over turned, or so called favoritism. The one thing you will notice is that open, upfront information and fairness will be the rule of the day. Not everything will please everyone, but I can bet that most will find compromise an easy task.

(In no way am I putting down the past promoter Jody Palmer. He did a great job as far as I am concerned. I may not have always agreed with him, but he did so much good for this sport, drivers and the fans. I have no doubt that he will succeed in anything he chooses to do in the future.)

Also, TR Speedway should have a new website up in the near future with a user friendly interface. So look for details soon.

Now please keep in mind that I in no way, shape, or form have any affiliation with the track what so ever or anyone who owns or runs it. Myself and my family pay just like everyone else to get in so that I can voice my opinion freely and without any obligation. I do what I do simply because I enjoy it.
