The qualifying and heat races were a success tonight at TR Speedway and were a good indication of great mains that will be seen tomorrow during the 2nd day of the Grass Roots Nationals. If you missed tonight, make sure you are there for the real deal tomorrow because it’s going to be one you will want to discuss afterward.
Young Guns ran two heat races with only one problem occurring for Aker as he bumped into the front stretch wall causing a flat during the first heat. Starting the main event tomorrow will be Junior Searcy and Amanda Odom in the front row.
Aside from the few bump-ups on the first lap, the Renegade division has strong competition up and down the field. Kyle Westmoreland and Dwight Smith will be leading the main event off in the front row tomorrow at TR.
Without complications, Kevin Kelly and Mathew McDonald placed to start up front tomorrow for the main event in Stock 4.
The Stock 8 heats proved to be a winning night for Roger Gilliam and the J7 placing to start up the main event Saturday. The season is now over with the last race and it is no longer the Timmy / Wildman show. The other drivers are on their game and ready to change the tide.
Tonight the Limited heats were the ones I left scratching my head on. Normally this class is pretty predictable, but with Owens hitting the wall in the first heat, then Barbare and the 25F going at it during the second, tomorrows race is sure to be a show stopper. Danny Atkins and Steven Fox finished to start up front in the main event.
Pure Stock started out looking a bit like Pin Ball, but Stroker and 09 avoided the game themselves so that they placed to start in front row for main event time.
FWD was a bit messy with the rain coming down, so starting or finishing, tomorrow will be interesting to say the least.
