The race April 11, 2009 at Travelers Rest Speedway was one of the best I have seen in such a long time. With the crazy flips, spins and crashes going on out there (which I hate to see anyone wreck their car), who would have guessed that one of the races would have run without a single caution.

Young Guns started things off with some wild rides even in the heats. The main event saw Blackwell and Derita collide flipping the 2x (Derita and Blackwell are ok). After restart Ebbler and Samantha went nose to nose causing her to hurt her hand. (Still awaiting word on how this young lady is.) I hate to see the Young Guns out there wrecking but they are new and it will happen so I spent most of my time holding my breath and clossing my eyes. Each of these young men and women are in my thoughts and prayers every week. I will say an extra one this week to Thank God they all came through.

1st Place #10 Zeke Whiman 2nd Place #23 JB Moser 3rd Place #83 Jasper Brown

Renegade was the craziest race of the night. These guys took flipping to a whole nother level. In the heats alone 2 cars flipped several times and then the main #14 (Lambert) flipped doing a lot of damage to his car. Once things started to turn, the rest of the race was intense upfront, in the middle and the back. Fighting for every position was in full swing until the checkered flag.

1st Place # 8 Dwight Smith 2nd Place # 6 Timmy Smith 3rd Place #4 Kyle Westmoreland

Stock 4 started in a flash with drivers battling for anything they could get. Bump ups, crashes and spins made for one hell of a race.

1st Place #88 Joey kelly 2nd Place #M19 Scott Morgan 3rd Place #88 Kevin Kelly

An all around favorite class Stock 8 showed us how it was done. The battles went on 2 wide, 3 wide and 4 wide trying to get to the top 2 spots. Every fan were on their feet screaming for their pick to make it past the finish line first. This was one race you couldn’t have called even in the last lap.

1st Place #28 Rodger Gilliam 2nd Place #55 Wildman Bowers 3rd Place #6 Timmy Smith

Super Stock 4 ran a complete race without one single caution. All I can say is great job well done!

1st Place #26 Johnny Raines 2nd Place #72 Gene Oaks 3rd Place #44 Jason McGrew

He did it!!! Zack Mitchell (Kid Quick) won his first race in the 2009 season. GM Performance always puts on a fantastic show and this past weekend was no exception. Some of the best driving I have seen and the 13 year old wins the whole thing.

1st Place #57 Zack Mitchell 2nd Place #116 David Smith 3rd Place #999 Travis Blackwell

Pure Stock was another division who saw few cautions, only 2. The only problems they seem to have was tires.

1st Place #T20 Dustin Morris 2nd Place #21 Sexton 3rd Place #9 Mike Watson
