Safety act or full of crap?

The Consumer Product Safety Imporovement act of 2008 has made it impossible for ATV’s or Motorcycles to be sold for children 12 and under. This is on top of the fact that the vehicles you already have, you will not be able to buy new parts for. Shop owners all over are having to pull everything for 12 years old drivers and under. It all comes on the hills of lead painted toys found coming from outside the US last year.

Groups have been trying to outlaw children in the Motor Sport world for years now. This may have just put the nail in the coffin for the millions of our youth who participate in all types of amateur racing. What will they take next? Will it be the Go-Karts or the Young Gun Stock cars? If you suspect it has lead in it, then they just might.

With all this said, we are glad to see that they are trying to keep our children safe from outside sources. However, how often do you see your child putting there vehicle parts in their mouth? I don’t see the Young Gun drivers at TR Speedway chewing on their steering wheel while cruising around the track waiting on the green flag to drop.

Many groups like Motorcycle Industry Council, Specialty Vehicle Institute of America and Polaris Industries have sent in petitions to exclude the ATV and Bikes from this law. They are expected to make several changes to this law in the near future and hopefully the many voices that have spoken can make some needed changes in the hopes of keeping alive the ability for our next generation to continue to follow their dreams in the world of Motor Sports. Is this a safety act or full of crap? You decide.

I believe the law is outdated. This may take away the dreams of millions of children who aspire to become Schumacher or Rossi. Isn’t fair to take away someone’s dream for a mistake done by others.

The problem here is this bill was set in motion in 2008. Trying to get them to budge could become a huge problem. It is crazy to think that a car part could cause lead poisoning due to chewing. Have they all been smoking crack in Washington?

I heard about this on the radio last week. It is unbelievable the crap that our government is passing into law every day. It makes me wonder if they read this bill like they did the 1,475 page stimulus package before they passed it!

You have a great site here! Keep up the good work!

It is an “attempt” to make things safer, but in reality it may not make that big of an impact so my vot eis for CRAP!
