Getting ready for the next racing season

Most of you do not need me telling you how hard it is to get ready for the next season in racing. Things change so fast as to the qualifications of a car, that you have to stay on top of it through out the year as well as off season. With the motor at a friends house being built, the new seat cover being made and some extra welding being done, we are now searching for a good racing suit, helmet, gloves and shoes.

Let me just say that there are so many good people out there in this sport that are willing to help in any way they can without anything in return. To all who have helped us and others along the way, Thank You from the bottom of my heart. Lord knows we could never be doing this without so many good people, some of which we have never even meet in person.

As the race season grows closer, I am filled with mixed feelings about letting my 12 year old daughter get out there and race. Of course I agreed to it when the season was far off but now that the time grows near, panic is setting in. This is what I am told is the jitters of starting something new and exciting. It appears that my home for the first few races may just be stuck in the pits, or at least for the Young Guns races.

So here is to another season coming close at hand. May each driver, each crew member, each fan, each parent, children and so fourth, get ready for another great season at your local speedway.

  1. Robin, one of the things that I have learned is that no decision is easy when it comes to our kids. But, when we show a little faith, the return is so great that it is all worth it in the end. Nikki will be fine. She has a great role model to look up to.

Your right Danny. It will get easier but I will always worry. My son is 19 and I would feel the same. I think each mother of any driver goes through this same emotion.

Season is good for enjoying ourself. But it is coming to practical with any amatures, that is giving fear as well as pain to the parents.. kids should be avoided to taken to such events…

Sherin, I understand your concerns but to be honest, racing is safer these days than just driving on the streets. More people are killed on the highways per year than ever in the world of racing.
